Small Group training is one trainer working consistently with the same group of students over the course of an eight week period.  The Trainer will teach and/or enhance an exercise skillWith the same teacher and group of students, you will never have a substitute instructor.  The class can progress together throughout the course.  Most classes will have a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 attendees.  Small class sizes will facilitate the instructor getting to know each clients abilities including physical limitations on an individual level. 

How Is Small Group Training Different From Group Exercise?

South Shore Fitness does not offer Group Exercise Classes.  As stated under our Membership section, South Shore Fitness is able to keep their cost down by sticking to the basics.  At other gyms, Group Exercise classes are typically offered throughout the day and attendees of varying abilities and limitations can attend without any prior meeting with the instructor or medical information given.  Attendees simply jump right in to the class.  Since instructors don’t know who will be attending from class to class, there is no way to progress the class from beginning to advanced moves and, since class size can vary, there is  limited individual attention given to every attendee. 

With Small Group Training, the trainer works consistently with the same group of attendees.  They know the medical history of each attendee and can work closely with each attendee making sure they are going to do the moves correctly and are getting the most benefit out of the class.  Each attendee is giving individual attention.

How Often Are Classes Offered?
There are multiple eight-week session terms offered through out the year.  There is one make-up session offered during week nine.  There will be one week breaks between sessions where free “trial classes” that are being considered for the future will be offered.  “Trial Classes” are open to all on a first-come, first-serve basis.

SPINNING®
Currently, Spinning® is extremely popular.  Most gyms require that you call to reserve your bike in advance of the class.  By offering Spin as a Small Group Training Class, you are essentially reserving your bike in the class.  No one will take your bike if you arrive a few minutes late.  You are guaranteed a bike since you have paid in advance for the class.

Classes will be offered throughout the day, but will adhere to the same session schedule as the other Small Group Training Classes.  This means that every eight weeks there will be a one week make up class and a one week free “trial” week.  We will make the Spin® bikes available (on a first come basis) for any gym member to try Spinning® during this “trial class” week.  In addition, we may audition different instructors during the one-week “trial week” between sessions. 

All Spin® Instructors are certified by Mad Dogg Athletics, the leader in spin certification, and follow the Mad Dogg Spin® Program.
